We have 140,000 people imprisoned in this state alone? Holy shit. Also, I’m kind of surprised that only 5% are in private prisons. I thought it would be much higher.


California leading the way. The prison industrial complex will be taken apart. Under no circumstances should prisons be privately owned for profit corporations or even nonprofits. It is the state’s and federal’s responsibility no one else’s.


We should have never privatized prisons in the first place.


ICE detention centers are federal. So no, not including ICE detention centers.


State govt banning fed facilities? Good luck with that.
