Disciplining royal children in non-Western civilizations. Was there any equivalent of whipping boys?

I would be interested in stories of kings who either did or didn’t care for their whipping boys well being.


Ottomans had them too. They had been called “şamaroğlanı” very close translation of whipping boy.


In India, the Guru was considered superior to the royal. Some Kings/Emperors were painted bowing to the teacher or standing behind the teacher. So I don’t think that would have been a problem.
