As an only child I will use this in conversation incorrectly.

>Researchers surveyed 12 year old children from 77 families with one or more pets of any type and more than one child at home.

Possibly due to lack of sibling rivalry.

Trouble is, the kids in this survey are 12. We need to ask adults about it, because dogs die, and siblings stay with you for life. Still, I only want one child. And lots of dogs.

This study doesn’t make sense to me, well it may be the “results”. Kids get more satisfaction from pets than brothers and sisters?? Of course they would. They don’t have to share attention, toys, space or anything else with their pets. They don’t fight over what show they are watching or fight about one sibling not following the “rules” of some made up game. They would be an only child and therefore would probably be further behind in conflict resolution and social skills. At least that is my opinion, for what it’s worth.
