TIL in 1890, two lawyers wrote an article titled “The Right to Privacy”. It is regarded as the first publication in the USA that advocated that individuals had a right to privacy. It describes the right as the “right to be let alone”.

What about the fourth amendment, which was part of the bill of rights in 1789? ​ >The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
