Hey did anyone actually watch this or are we just going to worry about whether OP is Chinese? I’m curious if I should spend time watching this after work, if anyone’s actually seen it.

Sooo- this was posted by a Chinese bot

Not exactly the level of discipline you’d expect from a so-called elite operator. That it took so long for one of them to come forward is also telling of the culture, where there is likely an unspoken expectation that these incidents would be taken to the grave. The claim about vague descriptions of targets lacked some credibility, as the guy asserting it didn’t seem overly confident about it. In any event, a lot of the men would look similar, so it would probably require contextual considerations also. Either way, it seems painfully similar to what happened in Vietnam: countless patrols, where kill count quickly becomes the KPI, the enemy is invisible, and individuals become disillusioned and confused. While the responsibility for strategic decisions sits with ranking officers and politicians, those within the unit would be equally hungry to get into a war zone and do what they’ve been training for. While the blame sits with the individual, what about the protocols in place to prevent this from happening in the first place? Rotating patrol leaders, whistleblower avenues, thorough debriefing, psychological assessment, cooling off periods, mandatory body cams, reviewing footage as standard procedure, etc?

Hello, AFP? Yes, this post right here.
