Everybody please do your part to encourage more and more to do the same. Fuck everything FB. Signal is solid.

Up 4200% from a low number is impressive, but doesn’t mean people are switching over. At the end of the day you’re stuck using what the people you want to talk to use and most people don’t care about FB having their data. I use Messenger because that’s what everyone else uses. It’s going to be the same for WhatsApp users.

As a never Facebook user, I can say I never will. I hate buying a new phone and seeing FB as the only ‘non-essential’ app coming as a system app. Disabling it is such a nuisance!

I kinda think it was more the tweets from Musk and Snowden. Because I know I switched the day I learned that WhatsApp had been bought by Facebook. So I don’t think it’s because of a change in data sharing. That on it’s own is usually not enough to cause such a huge shift, IMO.

I think it was more the “take it or leave it” attitude vs. what data was going to Facebook.
