LPT: Unexpectedly finding sand while digging is actually a sign you might have found a trench where pipes or wires are buried. It should be taken as a warning that something might be down there.

If you are digging somewhere, you should call and get any utility lines located first. Someone will come out and mark any lines that might be buried.

Call before you dig, even if it’s a small project. 8-1-1 will redirect you to your local OneCall center. It’s free for the company locators to come out and mark them. It will also save you a lot of time and money.
