It’s frustrating that so many people don’t understand or want to admit the seriousness of what is going on right now in the evangelical church/Republican Party

I went to church with my aunt and uncle on last sunday. I’m a closeted atheist to them but, I heard some really chilling s***. They said that they’re going to march to the school district building to support prayer in schools. (This is in Maine btw.)

A critical event will occur in less than 18 months: > The 2022 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. During this mid-term election year, all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested.

The more dersperate and extreme they get, the less influence they will eventually have. Politicians already notice that these extremist positions don’t have a majority, and they notice that the influence they thought some preachers have is vastly overstated. For the first time, the majority of US people is not member of some church. We’re still far from “is not religious”, but we’re getting there. What you see there is desperation, trying to cling to a power they should never have had. And they’re losing their supporters. Young people abandon their churches for reality, because they noticed that the answer is not in some ancient book that has been shown to be wrong countless times. They have the ability to see past what they are told by those that try to control them, and they are using it. If they really try to retain their power by force, by force they will lose the last vestiges of it.

Part of the problem is the attitude of the media toward religion. They by and large have been content to give free rein to churches, for several reasons. They extol religion’s good side, but almost never report on the bad side. They have failed in their duty to society in this area by letting churches police themselves and demanding the same kid-glove treatment by the rest of us.

All in the name of the lord.
