One of the most important things we can do as a community is support each other. We have all lost people, been alienated by people, been shunned, ridiculed, abused… We understand. The road to freedom from religious trauma is long and painful but we walk it together. Thanks for being here.

Great to hear! You’re definitely not alone. The number of non-religion people is growing pretty quickly. Not so great to hear about the harm you went through, but I hope you’re on the other side of that now and have nothing but great things to look forward to. If you’re still young i understand you may not be able to get our of that relationship very easily. But time is your friend.

I had a similar experience years ago. It’s quite a liberating feeling when you’ve finally cleared your mind off of the shackles of religion. I was also really glad when i found out that we did have a community where we are not treated as evil. Keep moving forward, cheering for you! ✌️

This community has helped me too. The older I get, the more I realize I was in a religious pocket, that the majority of America is not actually religious. That atheists can be more ethical than Christians. That atheists can be more loving. Their care is genuine. They help instead of just offering up their prayers.

We’re always happy to help and you shouldn’t ever need to worry about talking about the trauma you may have endured because of religion a lot of us on this subreddit have been through some dark stuff do to religion as well. We’ll be here for you whenever you need us sending lots of love
