We were so focused on whether or not we could, we didn’t stop to ask whether or not we should. JP

Viruses are far, far less likely to survive outside of a host than bacteria – and it’s already nearly impossible for most bacteria capable of infecting humans. (relatively speaking – we’re talking hundreds or thousands of years here, not weeks or months…) Again – Tibetan permafrost. Not the sneeze guard at Golden Corral.

Either my understanding of the word “new” is seriously flawed or theirs is.

What’s old is new again.. I read something similar about the receding rain forests.

15,000 years old is not “new”. Unknown may be a better term. Then again, there are billions of unknown viruses in the ocean, so this is no big deal.
