Temporary contract workers are not ’employees’ and as such don’t receive benefits. This is part of the terms of the contracts to which they freely signed.

I like how this article casually mentions how they did not in fact fire all 7 contract workers but rather let 1 go with 3 months pay and hired the rest as full time employees

Why is this news?

The company told us in no uncertain terms not to report. It was about to be fired and my manager was fired instead. We had to give the report to a human.

Sounds like the manager is the idiot. You don’t fire skilled workers in this job market if they are performing.
