I’m very tired of identifying this issue. We know. Everyone who’s going to know, knows. Please do something about it. When votes can be won with lies and fear mongering, it isn’t a democracy. We have representatives dictating the terms of our existence who would rather see us die than lose their kickback from oil or drug companies. The politicians that need oversight against corruption are the ones who can decide whether or not they need to be investigated. That’s insane.

Trump spent four years trying to be reelected and his followers love him. Trump accomplished less than zero in office, and if he ran tomorrow he would still get 75 million votes. This is what bewilders me. Republican voters don’t care.

Speier hits the nail on the head in this interview. Many Republicans were willing to call out Gosar for the violent video he shared, but only two (Kinzinger and Cheney) were willing to vote to censure Gosar, since the censure meant sacrificing Gosar’s committee assignments.

For those too young to remember, Speier was part of his November 1978 fact-finding mission organized to investigate allegations of human rights abuses by cult leader Jim Jones  and his Peoples Temple followers, almost all of whom were American citizens who had moved to Jonestown, Guyana, with Jones in 1977 and 1978.

I hate the argument that Dems shouldn’t do this or that (like killing the filibuster) because then what if the tables turn and then Republicans use it against us? THEY WILL USE IT AGAINST US ANYWAY. They’ll do whatever they want, and they won’t worry the slightest about what Democrats might do if they ever get back into power, because Republicans will never let them have power again. They’re already rigging the game (in numerous ways) to ensure that *it doesn’t matter* who gets the most votes anymore. Republicans know they can’t win playing fair anymore, so they’re openly cheating with gerrymandering, voter suppression, giving the power to throw out election results to R legislatures, etc etc. We’re in the endgame now.
