Wow only 150 light years away, that’s actually really close for this sort of thing

So we’ve found water 150 light years away… pretty soon we’ll be able to extrapolate how common water, and life, is in the universe

In other news, Nestlé just announced its new space exploration division.

What I keep wondering is where did all the water come from? And how did it get here?

Water is h2o and is hydrogen and oxygen. And is stored everywhere like in commets and on asteroids just floating around in space. The trick to liquid water being present is the late bombardment of such objects after the planets surface has cooled. If it happens too soon it will all evaporate and be sent back out to space as a vapor.
