> The cryptocurrency entrepreneur who bought an non-fungible token (NFT) of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s first tweet was hoping to sell it for $48 million, more than 16 times the $2.9 million he paid for it. > But after an auction that lasted a week, the highest bid offered was a mere $280. And NFTs creep one step closer to Beanie Babies.

wahahaha Yeah ppl, thats the reality of assets with no intrinsic value. It can be worth tons of money. It can be worth nothing. It depends entirely on hype.

Mockingbirddd

Haha, it took me a moment to realize it literally meant 280 dollars, as in doll hairs. Too bad there is no secure way to actually link an NFT to its blockchain anyway. It was such an awesome idea except for every single thing about it.

I’ve had people explain Blockchain, they swore to nft and crypto authenticity, that the laundering wasn’t a significant concern, but at the end of the day, they hold no real “value”. There’s no IP, there’s no functional use, and depending on if you keep a crypto wallet or an exchange account, you’re one failed drive or security exploit away from losing it. This has always been tulip mania, and the first winter frost is here.

NFTs are really cool for small artists. It’s been cool to see so many be able to make a living on their art. And some of the medium sized projects experiments are really cool. But who wants a fucking tweet? Lol
