“Reinstates Environmental Regulation” makes it sound like this is a good thing. It’s not. This should have said “Allows Private Companies to Continue to Undermine the Health and Welfare of the Public.”

>the regulation, adopted in 2020 to replace a nearly fifty-year-old rule, narrowed the criteria for state and tribal authority to veto industry projects that could impact their waters, limited the information which industry projects were required to turn over to states, and reduced the window within which a state could exercise its authority to block such projects to one year. In other words. They reinstated a Trumpian rule that allows for-profit private enterprises to run slipshod and ignore environmental impact. The rule makes it easier to pollute and potentially cause environmental disasters. How very like the Republicans. They even voted on a shadow docket.

“In a 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court reinstated a Trump-era environmental regulation related to the States’ enforcement rights under the federal Clean Water Act (CWA). The regulation, adopted in 2020 to replace a nearly fifty-year-old rule, narrowed the criteria for state and tribal authority to veto industry projects that could impact their waters, limited the information which industry projects were required to turn over to states, and reduced the window within which a state could exercise its authority to block such projects to one year.” 50yrs of precedent out the window on a 5-4 decision where the Justice dissented. It’s a bad look.
